The Big Game

Most people make a big deal out of the NFL games on Thanksgiving but to the college fan the two days after are a feast of games that are unmatched by any other sport. Thanksgiving weekend is quickly becoming rivalry weekend starting with the 118th edition of Texas vs. Texas AM and ending with the greatest game of all UCLA vs. USC. Now I am not a big fan of this game being this weekend and would prefer that it was last Saturday but it is what it is. This will be my 30th edition of the crosstown rivalry. I have watched this since I was a kid watching Charles White and Marcus Allen run all over my beloved bruins.

Todays game will be different. UCLA is the running team and USC has the hottest quarterback in the nation. I don’t give much hope to my team but there is always that slight glimmer. Bragging rights don’t mean much since we have only won once in the last 13 years. Top that with the fact that we are donning new uniforms that promise to look hideous while dumping one of the best traditions in sports, both teams wearing their home uniforms.

Still I will watch because if UCLA does win they will be in the PAC 12 title game with the chance to go to a BCS game. If that were to happen I would be the happiest person on the planet. So Go Bruins!
