Biblical Leadership Part 4

So far we have looked at the importance of leadership, the obstacles to leadership, and the principles of leadership. Today I want to look at the multiplication of Leadership. That point in our leading where the wheels are greased and momentum has started. This is where we see the fruits of our labors.

Exodus 18:23-26 If you do this thing, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people will also go to their place in peace.24 So Moses heeded the voice of his father-in-law and did all that he had said. 25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people: rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 26 So they judged the people at all times; the hard cases they brought to Moses, but they judged every small case themselves.

If we put into effect the 5 principles of leadership we will start to see something right off the bat, Relief. Jethro tells Moses that he will be able to endure the work God has put into his lap. This is a key to survival. Just knowing that you can make it will increase your energy levels. It will also bring peace to your workers. Disharmony grows in the home. They go home, complain, and it festers. Proper leadership alleviates disharmony. Don’t underestimate the power of perseverance and peace.

Moses also heeded the voice of Jethro. When we allow counsel a open door into our leadership we are able to get a different perspective. This can bring fresh ideas. Moses was grinding away so much he couldn’t see anything different. Seek counsel but for it to be of any use Listen to it and then Do it. Sometimes just trying something new can bring a breath of fresh air to all involved. Do go back to doing it the same way because it is easy becuase eventually that will become difficult.

Finally when others take on more work it makes the difficult things for you handle so much easier. Build trust with your workers so that you can release them to do their work. Don’t hover and don’t second guess. Don’t take it back once you give it away. It will cure your headaches immediately and increase your productiveness.

Hopefully you have enjoyed this series. Like I said it was from a talk I did on Saturday March 7,2009 at Calvary Chapel’s Men’s Conference in Arroyo Grande. If you would like more resources or have this seminar come to your company or church please feel free to contact me.
