Zecheriah 4

Was reading through Zecheriah 4 this morning and was impressed by a couple verses:

vs. 4 Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord of Hosts

My wife painted this on the wall of our house in Santa Maria. It was a constant reminder to me of ministry priorities. As I read it this morning I am moved by what God has been putting on my heart lately. He has called this church to minister to broken people. How we do that will not be by our efforts or by our knowledge but by the Holy Spirit restoring them. It is already happening. So many people have come up to me and told me that once they walked into our church they knew they were home. We haven’t done anything to them it is what the Spirit is doing in them.

vs. 10 Do not despise small beginnings

A lot of what we have done at our church has started big. Still we can’t let that stop us from doing what God is leading us to do. There are several ministries that I believe God is leading us to begin. If we make our decision based on size we will miss what He wants to do. Let us be sensitive to His leading and resilient in His purpose.
