Your Dad Might Be a Redneck…

My dad and his wife came up as visited us yesterday. We had a great time hanging out with them going to Solvang and having dinner. My dad is an interesting person. He is from the deep south but hasn’t been back there is close to forty years. You know the old saying you can take the boy out of the south but you can’t take the south out of the boy. He is a pretty amazing person considering he grew up for awhile in an orphanage, served in the Air Force for 23 years, and then started his own electrical contracting business. To this day I haven’t met a more giving person.

Still he does some things that are just unbelievable. He was showing us his new cowboy boots yesterday and telling us that because he has such high arches in his feet these are the only shoes he can wear. This didn’t seem strange at first because many people do this until he told us what he does in those boots. My dad belongs to a gym and he works out in his boots and jeans!!! Oh my! If this doesn’t wreak of Redneck I don’t know what does. The picture of him riding a stationary bike at the gym in his cowboy boots is stinkin hilarious! It is a good thing he wears jeans and not shorts because his legs are so white they are almost transparent but boots? I told him that if I saw him doing that I couldn’t work out because I might hurt myself.

I gotta give him credit. He is a 71 year old man who has held his health extremely well. If boots are the thing to a long healthy life then more power to him. I don’t think I could do it.

  1. That’s pretty much the most hillarious thing I have ever heard, still the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and now I am begining to see things clearer. JK I’m super glad that the visit went well, and was enjoyable. Love ya
